School Road – Sale
School Road, Sale is a mixed use town centre scheme comprising of ground floor retail which include a supermarket and smaller units for localised retailers, 120 car parking spaces on the upper floors and stylish city centre style apartments which are provided to Code Level 3 of the Code for Sustainable Homes.
Like most of our schemes there was an absolute emphasis on quality of interior design and we employed the services specifically of both an architect and separate interior designer to get the look just right.
As well as providing interiors at the cutting edge of interior design the scheme also included new technology such as air source heat pumps and solar water heating to provide the most environmentally efficient apartments in that locality.
Designed in an open plan arrangement to minimise internal corridor space and maximise the available daylight the apartments also included high quality movable partitions to offer maximum flexibility for the occupiers. Like all our schemes this proved very popular with all the apartments being sold off plan to owner occupiers.
The Millrace, Lancaster
The Millrace is a mixed use development of stylish and chic apartments which raise the bar in terms of interior design in Lancaster. Sited on the banks of the Lune Estuary in the heart of Lancaster the development formed a key part of the regeneration of this area of the city improving the whole area of the waterfront.
The contemporary style apartment interiors contrast with the traditional stone façades which reflect the warehouses and merchants accommodation that once occupied the site on this historic waterfront. All the apartments have balcony views across the river estuary and the historic cityscape. Testament to the quality of belief we have in our products resulted in sales of these units being bought by our staff members.
The Goldthread Works was a conversion of a Victorian art deco factory in the heart of Preston’s Avenham conservation area providing terraced housing and apartments.
The Goldthread Works was of major importance to the history and heritage of the city. Home since 1842 of local firm Stephen Simpson Limited it produced gold thread and embroidery for military and commercial uniforms. Work included thread that decorated the uniforms of the Titanic staff. During the war the firm undertook a top secret commission to produce German military badges and insignia for use by English spies operating in Germany.
Grade 2 listed buildings form a significant element of the Avenham conservation area. The conservation area comprises a Georgian and Victorian residential district arranged around a central park area and contains many listed residential properties of which this is one.
The nature of the existing building resulted in bespoke design solutions for many of the apartments, maximising the opportunities presented by the original factory buildings and included exposed timber and metal roof trusses, sand-blasted brickwork and retained pine flooring. Restoration of the historic features required extensive collaboration with specialist sub-contractors and suppliers.
Naturally, due to the character and quality of these apartments they sold extremely well and continue to be highly sought after on the limited occasions they are available for sale in the resale market.
